Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram, Ahmedabad

Just passing through Ahmedabad on the way to the airport, we stopped at the Gandhi Ashram. Arpana thought it was an amazing experience -- not only was it very moving but she also had an adventerous mouse run across her foot.

Hi Appi,
Managed to become member. Tell me about your experiences in Jaipur, Jodhpur & Jaisalmer. Can you recommend decent places to stay?

Absolutely -- In Jaipur, we recommend the Holiday Inn, on Amer road. Close to Hawa Mahal and shopping and a great restaurant - LMB -- you can ask any one and they can tell you where it is - excellent rajasthani vegetarian food. Good place for shopping - bedspreads and sarees in bapu bazar - also known for gems - but you need to know your stuff.

In Jodhpur - we stayed at a resort called Marugarh Hotel - a bit far away from the site seeing but a nice resort. If you want to stay in center city you might want to look for something else as it takes a long time to travel around if you are staying far. Ofcourse you can always stay at Umaid Bhavan -- see my blog for details:)

In Jaisalmer - stayed at Deoki Nivas Palace/Hotel. Very close to all the sites (5-10 minutes). The camel ride here was the best - at the sam sandunes - would recommend that you stay one night in the tents there. We did not do it as we were not aware of it but would definitely have done if if we had known.

Hi Blake and Arpana! I was thrilled to get a post card - REALLY, I had a long, hectic day at work, came home to everyone sleeping and there was this beautiful, thoughtful postcard waiting for me - it MADE my day! :) I love the website and the pictures are just breath-taking. I hope you are both enjoying every minute of your time there and time spent together - can't wait to see more! Diana Sullivan
