Adalaj Wav (step well ) in Ahmedabad
This well was built in 1499 by Queen Rudabai. Since Gujarat sits on the edge of a desert, access to water became sacred. Wells are called "baolis." This one is 6 stories deep. Cool at the lowest level even on the hottest days. Of all the wells in the city, this is probably the best example in Ahmedabad. Seen here with us are Chinky and Josephine.
